January Ramblings

It would appear I'm not quite into the rhythm of this "back to blogging" thing!  I can't believe this month has almost flown by without even one post.  Here's a quick fly by of what we've been doing this blessed new year.

Day Shift~ The end of December marked the end of David working an entire year of night shift.  Whew!  It sure feels good to have made it through.  To be honest, we had fallen into a pretty smooth flow and I was a little apprehensive about juggling up our lives as we switched to day shift.  It has been awesome so far though!

Back to School~ We started back up January 2nd and it's been our best "back to school after the holidays" ever! We've never been this on point when it comes to actually being where we are supposed to be in our scheduling which is super encouraging.  We switched up our school "curriculum" this year and it's been wonderful watching it really be a fit for us all!

More Snow!!!~ We love everything about snow in our family!  David can always get to work in his four wheel drive (which means he can also swing by the store!) and I have yet to reach my limit when it comes to being happily snowed in.  I was only mildly mocked for my reluctance to drive anywhere in snowy conditions, but after getting stuck twice in one day, I'll wear my "I don't drive in the snow" badge proudly from now on.

Snow is also very fun for an impromptu photo shoot!

I had never actually tried to take portraits in the snow before and it was a very cold, very speedy, very fun time.

Elisabeth Elliot~ I made very, very few specific goals this year, but one of them was that I am planning on reading all of Elisabeth Elliot's books this year.  I'm only a couple of books in but I can already tell you that I am extremely glad I made that goal.

Early Morning Hours~ So I'm sure that "early morning" is rather subjective and my rising time is surely not going to impress anyone.  But for me it has made a huge difference in how my days have started and especially the uninterrupted time I've had to spend with the Lord.  Waking up early is one of the hardest things for me, but my recent mantra has been, "If I don't change, I won't change."

So that's just a brief catching up on us as we start out this new year!  I hope to be around more in the coming weeks.  Love to you all!
